Description
Emerging historian Autumn Beals at the abandoned Central Prison Chapel, the only remaining building of the Central Prison complex, describes how religion and religious institutions factored into the experiences of incarcerated women. During the 19th and 20th centuries, religious study was emphasized for inmates to improve their moral and spiritual life and rehabilitate them from their former criminal behaviours.
