Description
Burlesque became popular in Canada during the 1930s but sustained an audience through to the 1960s and beyond. Stricter rules in the 60s, like not touching curtains, walls or prosceniums, not lying down on the stage or runway, not bumping props, and not making body movements that could suggest a simulated sex act to the audience, later gave way to go-go dancing and the strip tease.
