Description
In 1939, Toronto's island airport opened as Port George VI Airport, although it was commonly called Toronto Island Airport. The island airport was built on the western edge of Toronto Island, resulting in the demolition of the Hanlan's Point Amusement Park and baseball stadium and extensive lake-filling.
