Description
The first chocolate factory in the United States opened in 1765. In Canada, confectionery manufacturing became an increasingly important industry in the late 1800s. Production increased more in the early 1900s with the establishment of several major producers, including Toronto-based William Neilson Ltd in 1908 and Willard's Chocolates Ltd in 1914.
