Description
The current St. Lawrence Hall sits on the site of one of Toronto's earliest market buildings, and from 1824-1831, the Hall was part of Joseph Bloor's Farmer's Arms Inn. The original structure fell victim to the Great Fire of 1849, but between 1850 and 1851, St. Lawrence Hall was rebuilt to be the building we recognize today. It was designed by architect William Thomas in the Italianate Renaissance Revival style.
