Description
Artists Frances Loring and Florence Wyle are seen here conversing with a neighbour in 1959. Both artists were highly influential and active members of the Canadian art scene and were founding members of the Sculptors’ Society of Canada. They were members of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts - Wyle being the first female sculptor to be admitted into the society. The artists dedicated their lives to supporting young artists and promoting Canadian arts and after their deaths in 1968, they left money in their wills to purchase works to support young sculptors.
