Description
This photo of Gretta Wong Grant, the first Chinese-Canadian woman to practice law, is taken from the yearbook for Osgoode Hall Law School's class of 1946. Born in 1921, Gretta was one of eight children born to Chinese immigrants who moved to London, Ontario in the early 20th century. She went on to graduate from the University of Western Ontario in 1943 and subsequently law school. Aside from being the first Chinese-Canadian woman to practice law, she also became Regional Director of the Ontario Legal Aid Plan, Chair of the City of London's Race Relations Committee, and President of Chinese Canadian National Council, London Chapter.
