Description
A clock has been the centrepiece of the Royal York Hotel lobby since its opening in 1929. The original hung from the ceiling in the elevator bank and was made by the Self Winding Clock Company of New York. A second version of the clock was installed in 2002 in the centre of a spiral staircase that went to the lower level. During the hotel’s 2019 renovations, a new clock designed by the Rockwell Group was installed in the lobby. The celestial clock at the bottom of the tower depicts our view of the constellations through the year.
