Description
The popularity of Yonge St meant that realistate there was extremely expensive. Marcus Loew purchased a rather small space for the front entrance and theatre marquee at a cost of $600,000. The theatre was intended to be the flagship operation for a chain of film theatres run by Loew. The lobby was much smaller than traditional theatres as there were no intermissions and a space for gathering was not required.
