Description
One of the most iconic features of Ontario Place is the giant, golf ball-shaped dome known as the Cinesphere. Visitors enjoyed the world’s first IMAX theatre housed in this building when Ontario Place opened in 1971. Torontonian and IMAX founder Graeme Ferguson recalls how the young cinema company almost failed before Eberhard Zeidler encouraged the incorporation of their technology at Ontario Place. Closed in 2012 for renovations, the theatre reopened to the public in 2017 as part of larger efforts to transform Ontario Place.
