Description
The St. George’s Greek Ladies’ Philoptoho Society cutting New Year’s Bread with Father Stavrou, 1937. The Philoptoho (a Greek word meaning “friend to the poor”) was formed in 1921 and offered one of the few leadership avenues for women in Toronto's early Greek Orthodox community.
