Description
Dundas Street was laid out by Lieutenant Governor John Graves Simcoe in 1794 to link the province of Upper Canada from east to west. As road construction moved east towards York (now Toronto), it avoided several since-buried creeks and ravines in this area, giving Dundas Street its curved route through west Toronto. East of here, Dundas was created by linking together 15 separate streets, creating its unique winding path through the city.
