This L-shaped farmhouse is a rare example of a building that predates the 1913 incorporation of Leaside as a town. It was built by real estate broker
Thomas G. Elgie on farmland he inherited from his father. After the land was subdivided, the house sat on a large lot with its eastern side facing the street. In 2015, the property was redeveloped and 20th-century additions to the house were demolished. The house was moved several meters east to make room for two new homes on the lot.
