Description
Maple Leaf Gardens was the home of the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey team from 1931 until 1999. Adopting elements of Art Moderne and Art Deco architectural styles, the building’s yellow-brick exterior and great dome earned it the nickname as “Canada’s cathedral of hockey.” It was also a venue for notable political and musical appearances, including Winston Churchill and The Beatles. By 2012, the building had been adapted to include a supermarket, other retail, and Ryerson University's athletics centre.
