Description
Many wounded World War I soldiers received care at the Central Military Convalescence Hospital on College Street in Toronto. The building previously housed the Bishop Strachan School and was converted to a hospital during the war. It was later used as an armoury before being demolished in 1928. Many buildings in Toronto were temporarily converted into hospitals and homes for the care of returned veterans during the war due to the dramatic increase in the need for such facilities as wounded veterans returned.
