Description
A pavilion has stood in the Horticultural Gardens (today Allan Gardens) since the mid-19th century. When the Gardens opened to the public in 1860, a wooden pavilion stood on the grounds and was a popular setting for social events and concerts. In 1878, a new wood and glass pavilion was erected, designed by Langley, Langley, and Burke. It opened to the public in 1879. The pavilion was destroyed by fire in 1902, after which it was replaced by a steel-and-glass conservatory, which continues to stand in Allan Gardens today.
