Description
"Big Men Fear Me" uncovers the life and death of Globe and Mail founder, and long-time Toronto resident, George McCullagh. Mark Bourrie delves into the political and journalistic turbulence of early twentieth-century Canada, and the ambitions of a man with significant impact on society at the time who ended up almost entirely written out of history. The book has a strong focus on the history of, and competition between, major Toronto-based newspapers including the Globe, the Mail and Empire, the Toronto Telegram, and the Toronto Star.
