Description
On this tour along Spadina Avenue, tour participants learn about the shifting demographics that saw a thriving Jewish community transition to Toronto’s Chinatown.
Here, they explore Chinese mythology and the story of the Dragon’s Gate, located at the top of a waterfall cascading from a legendary mountain. Many carp swim upstream against a strong current; few make the final leap over the waterfall. If successful, the carp is transformed into a powerful dragon. The story illustrates the importance of hardwork and dedication, and is depicted in a mural on Spadina Avenue.
