Toronto's first Black doctors, plaque unveiling, Seeley Hall, Trinity College, February 9, 2023.
Description
Working with the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine, Heritage Toronto undertook a special presentation of two new plaques for Dr. Anderson Abbott (1837-1913) and Dr. Alexander Augusta (1825-1890).
Presented during Black History Month, these plaques and the event celebrated the service of these pioneers, who faced overt and systemic racism to become Toronto's first Black doctors.
