Description
As part of "94 Chestnut at the Crossroads", a group walked across the Art Gallery of Toronto’s atrium calling out the names of Black people listed in the 1852 census (Toronto’s very first census record) as residents of the St. Johns Ward mixed with the names of Black Torontonians who were murdered by the police. The collective performance involved a cross generation and diverse selection of Black people from different neighborhoods in Toronto, and gave the opportunity to flatten the time gap between the historical moments where the church existed and the continuation of the work Anique and other's continue to perform today.
