Description
Jackie Shane (1940-2019) was a pioneering transgender musician who electrified Toronto’s nightclubs in the 1960s with her high-energy R&B shows. A plaque commemorating Shane was unveiled at the former site of the Saphire Tavern in 2023. Depicted left to right: Councillor Chris Moise and MPP Kristyn Wong-Tam.
