Description
This section of the park is dedicated to Jeffrey Mann, a beloved teacher, coach, mentor and friend at Deer Park Public School from 2006-2016. Jeff ’s impact in this community is legendary.
Born in Brampton, Jeff was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of seven. He was an outstanding student, athlete and leader throughout his childhood. An avid fisherman and lover of the outdoors, he spent most summers at Camp Huronda, as both a camper and counsellor. Jeff always demanded the best of himself, and had a unique ability to inspire others to discover their own greatness, often helping people reach heights they never thought possible. Jeff ’s enthusiasm and passion for life was contagious and the cornerstone of his success as a mentor to so many.
Jeff graduated from Queen’s University, and then settled in Toronto to pursue his dream of becoming an educator. He will be remembered by the many students, parents and fellow teachers whose horizons he broadened and lives he enriched.
Jeff emphasized the importance of overall health and well-being for his students, and often gathered classes in this very spot. To further acknowledge his tremendous contribution, the Jeffrey E. Mann Scholarship was created in 2016 for Deer Park students who demonstrate exceptional leadership, initiative, determination, integrity and have a passion to improve themselves, their school and this community.
