Description
Event participants take a closer look at the Early Greek Orthodox Community plaque. In 1912, Greek immigrants across Ontario raised funds so that the community could purchase the building at 170 Jarvis Street. It served as their first church, their first Greek school and their first community centre. Today the building is home to Haven Toronto, a shelter dedicated to serving elder homeless men 50+.
The event was organized by the Hellenic Heritage Foundation (HHF) and included dignitaries such as the Mayor John Tory.
