Description
Dr. Gladys Boyd, pictured here, was a graduate (along with only four other women) from the University of Toronto's Faculty of Medicine in 1918. Boyd went on to specialize in diabetes at the Hospital for Sick Children. Her work on the use of insulin had a lasting impact on the medical field, saving many children's lives.
The image suggests she may have also been involved with the YWCA, a worldwide organization that supports women in need by providing them with things such as food, better housing, education, and other forms of care.
