Description
The E. & C. Gurney Company’s iron foundry opened in 1872, one of the early industries on King Street West. The plant produced boilers, radiators, and cast iron stoves. Gurney’s success led to an expansion of the foundry in 1890, and the construction of a second plant in The Junction neighbourhood. By the early 1900s, neighbouring factories pro-duced items ranging from paper boxes to watch cases. The heritage buildings were later converted into office space and other uses.
