Description
For most of the 20th century, Sterling Road, located east of here, was an active industrial district with easy access to both the Grand Trunk and Canadian Pacific railways. Makers of cocoa and chocolate, pickles, preserves, biscuits, and candy lined Sterling. Chemical, fibre, and lithographic companies operated here as well. The 12-storey Aluminum Company of Canada building, the tallest remaining factory in the area, made kitchen equipment and car parts until 2006. It is now home to the Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto Canada (MOCA).
