Description
The first purpose-built hall devoted exclusively to musical performances in Toronto, Massey Hall opened on June 14, 1894. It was a gift to the city from industrialist and philanthropist Hart Massey, in memory of his late son Charles Albert. Notable musical acts over the Hall’s history have included the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Dizzie Gillespie, Bob Dylan, Gordon Lightfoot, and Neil Young. In 2018, the Hall closed for major renovation work.
