Description
Built in 1931 as a hockey arena, the last Maple Leafs hockey game played at Maple Leaf Gardens was on February 13, 1999. One year later, the venue held its last-ever music concert: a combined performance by bands Oasis and Travis. Canada’s largest food retailer, Loblaw Companies, purchased the venue in 2004 for $20 million. The building was formally recognized as a National Historic Site in 2007.
